The North Face Hedgehog XCR is an excellent shoe for the widest range of activities.
It is just as happy being a full on approach shoe (without all that extra weight) as it is running in the fastest of mountain races.
It's a prickly little number that has been designed to repel rough terrain, allowing you to pick your way across scree slopes, around boulder fields and over terminal moraine.
