When Chris Brasher threw away his boots half way through a 180 mile trek across the roof of Wales, reverted to his trusty trainers and vowed to make a pair of boots that were just as comfortable I doubt he ever envisaged the institution that is now the Brasher Boot Company.

Chris Brasher was used to wearing trainers, as a gold medalist in the 1956 olympics the track was his natural home but it was his love of the British countryside that led his to his epiphany in 1978.

With this single vision of boots as light and comfortable as trainers he and his team set about on the development many boot variations that would sport the Brasher name over the next few years. Staring with the 'traditional' walking boots made from heavy leather with steel shanks that weighed a ton when wet he gradually refined his boots until in 1993 the Brasher Hillmaster was born.

The Brasher Hillmaster GTX is for some people the only boot they will ever wear because it does everything they need it too as well as they could ever want. The Hillmaster is designed for 90% of the places you'll find them in the UK, they're first class hiking boots.

Brasher made their name on the Hillmaster but they're far from a one trick pony. They are avid users of technology although they rarely shout about it. They were a very early adopter of Gore-tex technology and their use of much of that trainer footbed technology was ground breaking leading to today's gel footbeds. This leading edge design has now found it's way in to a range of Mountian boots and lifestyle footwear including the Diablo XCR shoes and the Hekla GTX boots all of which are avaiable in men's and women's fits.
