Keen is one of the companies that feels more like a bunch of like minded people who got together, did what they liked to do and waited for the world to catch on and join in.... which we are.

They make shoes, really great shoes, footwear for the things they like to do: walking, water sports and well, living. On first site some of the shoes and sandals appear to be designed for one specific purpose but then you notice the 'Keeness'... and you see that they may just do a lot more... they might just suit your hybrid life...

From what we've seen so far Keen are a really big hit with the ladies. Real style and function are rarely seen together working well but Keen seem to have nailed it, resulting in lots of approving nods and reaching for purses. Sandal like the Venice really demonstrate this.

Keen footwear is what the marketing people would call a lifestyle brand because as well as saying something about you the Keen Community uses funds from Keen's Hybrid Care programme to support environmental care and change through community, education and understanding. This is clearly a big deal to Keen, it's as if that bunch of people ended up with a lot of money and decided to spend it on what they cared about most.

They also want to drive the notion of the hybrid life. The Keen website states 'living a hybrid life is about playing in the outdoors wherever you might be... on the mountain, biking to work, or in your neighbourhood park'.

In the UK Keen are only really known to those in the know, in the US they're extremely popular. The Newport H2 sandal is the most popular Keen shoe on Boot Mooch but we expect that to change as Itchy Feet, Sports shoes, Cotswold, Blacks and Webtogs are now stocking.
