Review of Satmap Active 10 GPS

The good:

My Active 10 arrived on Saturday morning and I got to use it all day Sunday. I'm very impressed. It's sturdy and very intuitive to use after only a quick look at the instructions. the information read out is clear and it shows you what you need to know - no trying to interpret GPS speak, Satmap have really thought about what the user needs. Even a purest 'compass only' pal was impressed with the quality of information it provided. It's not an electronic mountain leader it's the same information that you give yourself manually but a lot quicker and with less effort making for quicker decisions. We got more out of our day with the information the Active 10 GPS provided us. I will still leave it at the bottom of the pack as back up on some days though!

The bad:

I suppose it is extra weight and complication because you still need your back up map and compass - just got to balance the benefits
